Respect Sentiments
As a big carnival is
around the corner, I thought to pen down something about festivals: and its
value for its followers. What is a festival? How much worth does a festival has
for its followers? A festival is a period of celebration, with cultural
significance, celebrated usually in remembrance of a religious or historic
event. Every festival has its own values, cultural and religious rituals. So
let’s guess! Which festival is about to come?? Some would say, we don’t have any festival at the end of the
year. Let me remind you now, “Diwali- the feast of light” is here. All our
Hindu fellows are all set to celebrate it in full swing.
What we are supposed to
do?? Why am I spending my time saying all this??
All we need to do is to at least wish everyone
on their feast.
So here I wish all of
them:
HAPPY DIWALI TO ALL OF THOSE WHO CELEBRATE IT. MAY THIS DIWALI BRING
ABOUT JOY, PEACE, LOVE AND HAPPINESS IN YOUR LIFE!
Now bring all those “Nahiiiiiiiiii….
You are a Muslim, ye kehna or sunna haram hai...” Guys I am waiting for such
fatwas in the comments section. In Pakistani culture, forget celebrating, even
wishing any festivals other than the ‘muslim’ festivals is frowned upon, no matter
how harmless or globally celebrated they are. We must respect all the
communities, be it Hindus or Christians, that residing in our country or
anywhere, no matter how small or large in numbers. We must share their
happiness and grieving. Becoming part of others’ happiness or grieving is the
quickest and easiest way to get a special place in others hearts.
Here I want to make
myself clear again. I am suggesting to WISH our Hindu / Christian fellows with
a simple small message of ‘care’ by either posting it on your social media
account or telling them personally. Our country’s harmony can be healed by a
simple display of ‘care’ and mutual respect to each other’s’ beliefs and
sentiments.
We witness every year
before Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr, there are sale offers or deals on gift items,
clothing, FMCGs and almost on everything around the world to serve the Muslim
segment of the world. These bargains are often labelled as ‘Ramadan Kareem Offers’. Even the Prime
Minister of Canada ‘Justin Trudeau’
took this beautiful initiative to wish ‘Ramadan Kareem’ and ‘Eid Mubarak’ to all
the Muslims across the globe just to show that he ‘cares’. Even many Indian TV
channels also wish ‘Ramadan Kareem’ and Eid Mubarak to their viewers. There are
numerous examples of non-Muslims celebrating or wishing on Muslim festivals. So
why don’t we reciprocate? After all, this is Islamic teaching to respect
everyone’s sentiments. Lekin nahiii..!!!
Hume tu mout parte hay kisi ko accha kehtay ya suntay huay.
For the first time
ever, Sindh government announced a public holiday for #Diwali and our people
instead of demanding a public holiday for Christmas, started showing their rash
behaviour by saying humara tehwaar tu
nahi hai phir chuti kyuon derahay hain? Kisi ko nahi manana chahye, etc.
Stop whining guys, this
is just a soft gesture of care. There are much bigger issues requiring your
“Social media Jihad”. High time to wake up, grow up and raise your voice for bigger
things in world, the right and wrong. Let’s spread the awareness rather than
badmouthing about Malala and her western outfit or Diwali and Christmas wishes
etc.
Looking forward to your
fatwas or support whatever here in the comments section. We are open to hear
your opinions. So brush up your keyboards fellows and let us know what you have
to say.
