IQBAL
IQBAL(9thNov 1877- 21stApril 1938) The
name “Iqbal” is a Persian word which means “Luck ” and this legend has made it clear.
Going back to his background, his grandparents
were Brahmins from Kashmir, later
converted to Islam. His family migrated to Punjab after a while.
If you live in Pakistan you know very
well that if you want your work to be renowned either “Parchi” works or you
have to be a celebrity's child. Anyways, this legend didn't have famous parents,
his father was a tailor (Sheikh Noor Mohammad) and his mother was just a
regular but humble and kind woman (Imam Bibi).
What made him renowned globally was his
passion and the love he had for studying, reading and writing. This all is
nothing but pure talent. He was influenced by many philosophers but the one who
bore the deepest influence on his mind was Maulana Rumi.
Iqbal
used to focus on reminding his readers of the Islam and delivering the message
of a pure, focus on Islam.
My personal favourite lines from his poetry “Bang-e-Dara”
are;
